Eskom suspends executive for group capital Abram Masango

JOHANNESBURG- Eskom has announced the suspension of the head of Group Capital Abram Masango with immediate effect pending an investigation into various allegations of impropriety.

Masango’s suspension relates last year’s disciplinary hearing over allegations that he received bribes at Kusile and Medupi power stations. However, in April this year, he was cleared of all charges against him.

“While we recognise his rights to be presumed innocent, however, given the serious nature of allegations made against him and the seniority of his position in Eskom, the Eskom management took a decision to place him on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation,” Eskom said.

Eskom said that the management was fully committed in investigation all the allegations of impropriety involving Eskom and further guaranteed to hold those involved accountable as part of restoring good governance in the organisation.
