JOHANNESBURG- The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in The Free State has on Wednesday said it is not surprised by the claims and subsequent confirmation of Derek Hanekom, which are reminiscent of the Askari tendencies of those planted in our movement to derail our advancement and consolidation of the total liberation of Blacks in general and Africans in particular.

This comes after the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema on Tuesday dropped a political bomb that Hanekom and Solly Mapaila, first deputy general secretary of the SACP, lobbied them to help oust Zuma and even shared a list of ANC MPs who were prepared to vote with them.

“We are certainly not surprised, given the historical antagonism displayed by this fellow towards any progressive program that is meant to touch the white privilege and tilt the economic ownership patterns in this country, such as the land expropriation without compensation policy”, said the ANCYL in the Free State.

The ANCYL Free State further added that: “This political hyena in a sheep-skin has consistently demonstrated total disdain towards organizational discipline and unity.
According to the movement, Hanekom’s actions of working with the opposition in an attempt to remove a sitting President of the ANC, despite a clear organizational line pronounced by the movement is a clear sign of ill-discipline and total disregard of organizational processes.
“We call on the National Executive Committee of the ANC to suspend this political jigsaw and restore the discipline and decorum of our movement. We wish to state it categorically that we no longer regard this political Askari as a leader of our movement and we shall henceforth attend to him as we do to all our fiercest political enemies”, the ANCYL Free State said in conclusion.
