JOHANNESBURG – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Polokwane said on Tuesday that they are investigating a case of murder which occurred in Flora park suburb during the past weekend.

It is alleged that on 24 February 2019, a 27-year-old man was found lying along one of the streets in the City of Polokwane by a community member.

“The victim was taken to hospital but certified dead on arrival. The police were summoned and started with the initial investigations which revealed that the victim was assaulted by a group of people in the area. One person has been taken in for questioning”, said Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

One of the alleged learners appeared in a Twitter video saying nothing will happen to him because his dad is a top cop in Limpopo.

A video was sent to Polokwane Review containing footage of the night the man was murdered.

The following footage contains graphic content and may be disturbing to sensitive viewers.

In the video, the man’s lifeless body can be seen being dragged by a group of the alleged learners.

“We are verifying the details and we will update accordingly. It’s a police case and we are working with them in this regard because we understand that one of the suspects is a learner from one of our school, Capricorn high”, Limpopo Department of Education said on Tuesday.

Ngoepe has appealed to anyone with more information regarding this incident to contact Sergeant Ratsoma on 072 808 1188 or the Crime stop number on 08600 10111 or the crime Line SMS 32211 or the nearest Police Station
