JOHANNESBURG, February 27 – With only a point separating the teams, Saturday’s Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium (start at 3.30pm) looks like being a close and cagey encounter.
The current log positions point to what promises to be another mouth-watering Derby with Amakhosi on 35 and the Buccaneers on 36 points after 22 games.
Arguably the biggest date in the South African sports calendar, fans are already getting into the mood and the debates have started for a derby that first started back in 1970.
In the first round, on October 21, 2017, an entertaining but fierce battle ended in a goalless stalemate, though pundits said that despite the lack of goals, the encounter was certainly worth the entrance fee.
Both teams are chasing Mamelodi Sundowns who are in pole position with 40 points from the same number of matches.
