JOHANNESBURG- Police in Hammanskraal have launched a manhunt for eight suspects who robbed a Cash In Transit van of an undisclosed amount of money.

According to police, the van was attacked in Carousel View as it was leaving a filling station.

“The G4S van was leaving the garage in the direction of Hammanskraal Station when it was fired at. Suspects in a white Mercedes Benz and Audi forced the van off the road and it crashed into nearby bushes,” said Sergeant Margarette Molane.

The heavily armed suspects ordered the occupants of the van to get out and made them lie on the ground. The suspects then proceeded to bomb the left side of the van and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

“Police found at least 24 spent cartridges at the scene. No arrests have been made at this stage. Investigations are continuing,” she said.

Molane added that there were no serious injuries.
