JOHANNESBURG- Radio and TV presenter Lerato Kganyago has resigned as the host of Live AMP show which airs on SABC 1 after two successful years with the show.
Kganyago’s sudden departure from the show was announced on Tuesday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, it was explained that she is leaving the popular programme to pursue other careers.
Live AMP series Producer Akhumzi Jezile wished Kganyago well in pursuing other ventures.
“It was an absolute pleasure watching Lerato grow with the Live AMP brand. Her love and passion for entertainment kept her grounded throughout her stay. She will no doubt make a success at anything she chooses to take on”.
“Co-hosting Live AMP has been the most incredible and fulfilling ride of my entertainment career thus far. However, two-years in the same spot is a little too long for a Soweto girl like me who is always looking for a new challenge. I will forever be indebted to SABC1 and Urban Crew for allowing me the unparalleled opportunity to showcase my talents on the country’s premium music entertainment offering”, said Lerato Kganyago.
Zandile Nkonyeni, who is the Head of Public Relations for SABC TV also wished Kganyago well and thanked her for her commitment to the show and SABC.
“Her commitment to the show is evident in her recent SAFTA win. We are grateful that as a public broadcaster we have contributed immensely in her television career and are proud to have had Lerato as part of the Live AMP family. We wish her well and we would like to thank her for her commitment to Live AMP and SABC1 over the years” said Nkonyeni.
Kganyago’s last Live AMP show is expected to air on May the 18th.
