KZN health department mourns doctor killed in road crash

JOHANNESBURG, May 18 – The health department in KwaZulu-Natal province is mourning the death of a young doctor in a collision on his way to work.

It said Dr. Ndyeboyesizwe Nondonga, who worked at Eshowe hospital, died on Wednesday when his vehicle collided with a truck on the UThukela bridge between Mandeni and KwaDukuza on the N2 highway.

Nondonga had graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal four years ago and regarded as one of Eshowe’s best doctors on the obstetrics and gynaecology unit.

“We will make time to visit the hospital to give them support after this great loss of a son who was promising and doing so much in one of our rural hospitals,” KwaZulu-Natal member of the executive committee for health Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo said.

“It’s not often that you find young doctors willing to support us in the rural of hospitals like Eshowe. We really mourn his loss.”
